The Effects of Lack of Sleep
In today’s modern world, many people, adults and even the young ones, are not getting enough sleep. For the adults, the most common reason could be too much work. The young generation on the other hand are spending too much time on the Internet and watching TV while there are those who are loaded with too much school work and even if they wanted to, they no longer have enough time to sleep because they need to be up again for school the following day.
Little did they know that there are adverse effects of lack of sleep. It weakens the immune system because it affects the white blood cell count in our body. It also decreases alertness and we tend to easily lose focus when we don’t have enough sleep. Depression and irritability are also common effects of lack of sleep because the neurotransmitters in the brain which are responsible for regulating our moods are depleted when the body does not get enough rest.
